1Who Ping is for

Ping is designed for families with children aged 4 and up.

  • Children cannot create accounts themselves
  • Child accounts are created and managed by parents only
  • Parents control contacts and settings
  • Parents may invite trusted adults (e.g. grandparents, coaches)
  • Trusted adults must accept the Terms of Service themselves
Ping is not a public network and is not intended for contact with strangers.

2Our privacy principles

Privacy is a core design principle at Ping:

  • We collect only what is necessary to operate the service
  • We use no advertising and no tracking
  • We do not sell or share personal data
  • Message content is end-to-end encrypted
  • Children do not need a phone number or email address

3What data we process

Account data

Parents & trusted adults

  • Email address
  • Name or display name
  • Avatar (no profile photos)

Children

  • Name or nickname (visible to parents only)
  • Avatar

Communication data

  • Message content (text, voice messages, images, stickers) — End-to-end encrypted, not readable by Ping
  • Technically necessary metadata (e.g. timestamps, sender/recipient IDs)
  • Image metadata is removed where technically possible

Technical data

Depending on usage, we may process:

  • IP address (temporarily, e.g. for security)
  • Device and app information (OS, app version)
  • Crash and error reports
This data is used solely for secure operation, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.

Payments

  • Subscriptions are handled exclusively via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  • Ping does not receive or store payment details (e.g. credit card numbers)

4Hosting & processors

We use the following GDPR-compliant service providers to operate Ping:

Service Providers (Data Processors)

Supabase (EU – Frankfurt)

Processes authentication data, account information, and encrypted communication data and media files. Supabase serves as the hosting and database infrastructure for Ping.

RevenueCat

Processes user identifiers and subscription-related data, including purchase history and subscription status. Used solely for managing in-app subscriptions.

Brevo

Processes email addresses for transactional emails such as verification emails, invitations, and important service notifications.

Apple / Google

Process payment information, push notifications, and App Store–related data as part of in-app purchases and platform services.

All providers act as data processors under GDPR-compliant agreements.

5Cookies & website

Our website uses essential cookies only. We do not use analytics, marketing, or tracking cookies.

6Safety & reporting

Ping is designed to prevent misuse by default.

  • Users can report messages and/or users
  • Reports are first visible to parents
  • Escalated reports are reviewed manually by Ping
  • Accounts may be restricted or removed if necessary

7Your rights

You have the right to:

access your data
correct inaccurate data
delete your data
restrict processing
data portability
withdraw consent at any time

Account deletion

  • Parents can delete their own account, including all child data
  • Individual child accounts can currently be disabled
  • Full deletion of individual child data is available on request

8Emails & communication

We send:

  • double opt-in confirmations
  • product and launch updates
  • security and service emails
No advertising. No marketing newsletters. You can unsubscribe at any time.

9Children's privacy

Children do not provide consent themselves. All data processing is based on parental consent and applicable child-data regulations (GDPR / GDPR-K).

10Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Ping evolves or legal requirements change. The latest version is always available on our website.
