How Ping works

Ping is designed around one simple idea:

Parents stay in control. Kids stay connected.

Parents set everything up

Create your family account, add your child, and choose what's allowed — from contacts to messaging features.

Kids chat only with approved contacts

Children can only message people you've approved. No public profiles. No random messages.

Friends connect safely, in person

Kids add friends by scanning a QR code in person — with optional parental approval for every new connection.

Built for parents. Loved by kids.

For parents

  • Approve and manage all contacts
  • Control features like voice, video, and stickers
  • Remove access or disable accounts anytime
  • Made by parents, for parents

For kids

  • Simple, friendly design
  • Fun avatars and reactions
  • No ads, no algorithms, no strangers
  • Works on phones and tablets

Frequently asked questions

Is Ping safe for young children?
Yes. Children can only message contacts a parent has approved, there are no public profiles and no user search, and no one outside that approved list can reach them. No ads, no tracking.
What age is Ping for?
Ping is designed for children roughly 6–12. Parents set everything up and stay in control, so it suits younger children who are starting to message family and close friends.
Do children need a phone number to use Ping?
No. Children sign in by scanning a QR code — no phone number, email address, or password is needed for the child's account.
Can strangers contact my child on Ping?
No. There's no public discovery or user search. A child can only receive messages from contacts a parent has explicitly approved.
Can parents read their child's messages?
Ping is built so parents manage who their child talks to — not what they say. You stay in control through contact approval and settings, not surveillance.
Is Ping free?
Ping can be tried free for 14 days, then continues with a family subscription. There are no ads and no selling of data — the subscription is the only thing that funds Ping.
Where is Ping made, and where is data stored?
Ping is built and hosted in Germany, under European data-protection law (GDPR), and designed with the UK's Children's Code and the U.S. COPPA rules in mind.
Is Ping end-to-end encrypted?
Yes. All messages in Ping are end-to-end encrypted — only the sender and recipient can read them. Not even Ping can access the content of your messages.
